HYPROGEO (Hybrid Propulsion Module for transfer to GEO)

Independent access to space is a key component of the European Space Policy. As competition increases both for full launch systems and key subsystems, cost-effectiveness becomes a main driving factor.

Hybrid propulsion is not a new technology but its application to a transfer module or to a re-ignitable upper stage is very innovative. It provides an interesting alternative for transfer to a Geostationary orbit (GEO), lying between chemical propulsion (bi-liquid) and electrical propulsion.

SpaceTec Partners analysed the market for propulsion to demonstrate demand for a hybrid propulsion apogee engine. As part of this analysis, SpaceTec evaluated and defined the competitive positioning of HYPROGEO and developed an associated exploitation plan and development roadmap.
