Impact Stories
With its free and open data policy, Copernicus is a key entry point for the region of Central America to begin to reap the benefits of space applications and support the implementation of sustainable development policies, disaster risk reduction, emergency management and mutually beneficial international collaborations.
The European GNSS Agency (GSA) in collaboration with the European Commission requested the development of a mobile solution to support the free movement of essential goods during the current pandemic; as well as to provide Member States with a means to report on their situation and comply with EU recommendations.
Through GNSS.asia, Novaspace has been bridging GNSS industries from Asia and Europe since 2012. Its objective is to facilitate industrial cooperation between the two regions, to support institutional relations and to maximise Galileo adoption.
Novaspace has organised training and information sessions, workshops and webinars to new and existing users of Copernicus across all EU Member States.
Through dedication and professionalism, Novaspace has set high standards for the conceptual coordination of high level events.
The Copernicus User Uptake study, commissioned by the European Commission, assessed the maturity of user uptake initiatives across Copernicus Participating Countries and resulted in a comprehensive and integrated user engagement strategy.
The Copernicus Support Office is an instrumental tool for Copernicus user uptake. Novaspace supported the animation of two virtual networks, the Copernicus Academy and Copernicus Relays, and the entire Copernicus user ecosystem through social media and a help desk.
The EU space programmes Copernicus and Galileo open new opportunities across all industries. Notably, the high precision systems of Galileo enable the creation of new services and applications across the agriculture industry where rising global food demand and limited natural resources require an increase in agricultural profitability and production. These requirements not only form the main drivers of precision farming techniques, but also the increase in sustainable farming solutions.
The TIRAMISU project aimed to solve the threat of landmines by equipping the Mine Action community with comprehensive demining resources. Modules covered detection, disposal, risk education, and training. We facilitated technology adoption, raised awareness, and fostered collaboration between the project and society.
When natural disasters strike, rescue teams face the challenge of navigating hazardous environments to save lives amidst chaos and devastation. Robotic technology, exemplified by ICARUS, can make rescue operations safer and more efficient. ICARUS developed innovative tools such as light sensors, unmanned aerial systems, and training support systems, bridging the gap between laboratory advancements and real-life crisis scenarios.
